Nancy A. Black is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) who has treated patients in private practice for over twenty years. Nancy has also provided clinical services to clients in hospital, mental health, and school settings. Most recently she has expanded her clinical practice to include educational consultation specializing in children and young adults with special needs, therapeutic needs or learning disabilities. She has both consulted and presented lectures on clinical topics internationally. Nancy provides treatment to children, adolescents, international students, international families and adults. She is trained and qualified to treat anxiety and mood disorders, relationship issues, school consultations relating to learning disabilities and neurodevelopmental disorders, child behavior issues, children's disorders such as OCD, ADHD, and PDD NOS, eating disorders, and trauma.
Treatment methods include but are not limited to cognitive therapy, emotional and behavioral regulation and management (DBT), stress management, and behavioral treatment. Insurances accepted include: Blue Cross and Blue Shield, United Health Care, United Behavioral Treatment, Tricare, Cigna, Aetna, Tufts, Federal Blue Cross, Value Options, Harvard Pilgrim, Rite Care, and Medicare and many Rhode Island private and government EAPs.
Nancy received a Masters of Social Work from the University of Texas School of Social Work in Austin, Texas. Nancy also completed a two year Post Graduate Clinical Fellowship in the Division of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at the Institute of Living, Hartford, Connecticut. She is a member of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW).
